The Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) Emergency Management Bureau is bringing their message of disaster preparedness to the public in the following weeks to come. The members of the agency will be meeting with the public at various locations throughout the county to answer basic questions about evacuation procedures and protocol. Topics to be covered include but are not limited to what citizens can do to prepare themselves ahead of time in the event of a disaster, as well as familiarizing the community with the evacuation zones in their neighborhoods, thus the catch phrase “Know Your Zone”.
A meeting was held this past Friday at the Choctaw Beach Community Center to answer questions and educate on evacuation zones and routes, sheltering pets in case of evacuation, and creation of a disaster preparedness kit.
The following meetings are scheduled to be held in South Walton with more to be scheduled throughout the entire county.
Publix in Santa Rosa Beach (Hwy 98) on June 20th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Publix in Watercolor (Co Rd 395) on June 21st from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
