The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the graduation of Captain Bruce Maddox and Lt Frank Hawley. Thirty command level personnel representing 21 agencies graduated from this class which was held at the Florida Public Safety Institute of Tallahassee Community College. The 64 hour course was developed to prepare mid-level managers for future command responsibilities. Included in the curriculum were sessions dedicated to budgeting and finance, emergency preparedness, discipline and labor relations, jail management, and working with both traditional and social media.
Lt Frank Hawley stated, “The FSA Commanders Academy was an outstanding school in that it focuses strictly on management and leadership of Florida Sheriff’s Offices and all the disciplines within a Sheriff’s Office including Operations, Administration, and Corrections. It will be an invaluable tool for the future growth of leadership in the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and I highly recommend the attendance to this academy by all our Lieutenants and Captains.”
“The Florida Sheriff’s Institute Commander’s Academy has been a great opportunity provided by Sheriff Adkinson for us to hone existing skills and learn new methods of leadership. The training also provided great insight into particular areas of responsibility unique to the Sheriff’s Office,” stated Captain Bruce Maddox.
