Serving the citizens of Walton County. Just give us a call and we'll be there.
The Patrol Division is the largest and most visible division and the foundation of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. The Patrol Division operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year patrolling the entire county,
all 1,000 plus square miles, in patrol vehicles, marked & unmarked, and sometimes on foot. They are responsible for answering emergency & non-emergency calls for assistance, protecting life and property, writing detailed reports
on their findings, and conducting initial follow-up investigations. Another primary responsibility of the Patrol Division is to conduct high visibility patrol, serving as a deterrent to criminal activity, and remaining accessible to
members of the community for service functions such as unlocking cars, security checks, and escorts. All deputies are trained to be professional and courteous as they perform their duties. As sworn law enforcement officers, they are

vested with powers of arrest, are trained in C.P.R. and first aid, and are armed.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office has embraced a policing philosophy designed to develop ways to meet with citizens in non-conflictive situations, exchanging ideas, and developing verbal relationships that will foster cooperation
in solving and/or preventing problems. This philosophy is similar to that of “community policing” and resembles that of the old-time foot patrol officer who was assigned a particular beat. He or she knew most everyone on their "beat"
and had a lot of personal contact with citizens. Expect to see patrol officers out of their cars more often in an attempt to promote personal interaction with the public.
Deputies of the Patrol Division use some of the latest equipment available. Currently, the standard patrol vehicle is the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor Model. Each vehicle is equipped with either a full size Whelen Ultra
strobe lightbar or a full size Whelen Liberty LED lightbar for increased visibility in the day or night, a vehicle partition and rear side window guards for prisoner transport, a Motorola radio programmed for radio communications with
several local agencies and other agencies in nearby counties, a Public Address system, a mobile computer terminal with wireless connection, a rechargeable heavy duty flashlight, a full size fire extinguisher, a electronic weapons lock
for securing shotguns or rifles, a Stinger Spike System for tire deflation, and much more. Some vehicles are further equipped with a RADAR or LIDAR speed detection device.
Whether you have an emergency situation or not and you need assistance from the Sheriff’s Office, call us and we’ll be there.
